What Are Individualised Living Options (ILO)?

Individualised Living Options (ILO) is an NDIS support package designed to help people with disabilities choose how and where they want to live.

Also, this program can be shared with housemates if you want, offering you the opportunity to live independently, make new friends, and embrace a new lifestyle.

While ILO doesn’t cover the cost of your home or accommodation, it empowers you to create a lifestyle that works for you.

At Maxicare Plus, we’re here to support you in starting your ILO journey. Here’s everything you need to know about how we can help.

Does Maxicare Plus offer ILO services?
Absolutely! Maxicare Plus provides both ILO Exploration and Design as well as Implementation supports.

Stage 1: Research and Co-creation

The first step is all about understanding your needs and preferences. We’ll work closely with you, your family, close friends, and your support network to explore where and how you’d like to live and identify the supports you need at home.

Together, we’ll craft a personalized plan that supports you in the best way, recommending the living arrangements that suit you best.

You’ll be partnered with your own Support Coordinator throughout this process. Don’t wait—start planning today!

Stage 2: Implementation

Next comes putting your plan into action.

We’ll assist you in settling into your chosen home and regularly check in to ensure everything is running smoothly. If changes are necessary, we’ll collaborate with you to make them happen. You can rely on us to provide consistent support and guidance throughout the entire process.

Who Can You Live With?

With ILO, the decision is entirely yours! You can choose your living arrangement—whether it’s with friends, housemates, or living independently. Here are some options to explore:

  • Housemates
Share your home with housemates who can offer companionship, care, and support. In some cases, housemates may receive a stipend or subsidized rent for their involvement.
  • Mentors
Prefer having a small team of paid mentors? These mentors can provide tailored support, spending significant time with you to offer both hands-on and behind-the-scenes assistance.
  • Living Independently
If you value your own space, you can live on your own while receiving flexible drop-in support from family, friends, or professional services designed to suit your unique needs.

Whatever you choose, ILO empowers you to create meaningful connections and build strong relationships with those in your living environment.

What Types of Homes Can You Live In?

ILO funding doesn’t pay for the cost of your home, but it offers a flexible support package tailored to your needs.

Whether you prefer a city apartment with drop-in assistance or a suburban house shared with friends and support services, the options are limitless. The decision is entirely up to you!
