What is Medium Term Accommodation (MTA)?

Medium Term Accommodation (MTA) is a short-term housing option for people who need a temporary place to stay while waiting for a permanent housing solution to become available.

For example, you might need MTA while:

  • ➢ Home modifications are being completed.
  • ➢ Your Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) is being prepared.
  • ➢ Assistive technology or equipment for your home is on the way.
  • ➢ The NDIS typically funds MTA as a temporary support, lasting up to 90 days, or up to 180 days in cases like hospital discharge.
  • Medium Term Accommodation at Maxicare Plus

At Maxicare Plus, we provide MTA to help bridge the gap while your long-term housing arrangements are finalized.

Our MTA is ideal for situations like:

  • Waiting for home modifications to be finished.
  • Waiting for your assistive technology to arrive.
  • Your SDA property (or new build) being made ready.
  • Transitioning from hospital or aged care.
  • When your existing support arrangements have broken down.
  • Our welcoming MTA properties are located across different parts of Australia.Contact us to find out more about how we can support you.

How does MTA work with the NDIS?

MTA is funded under the Core Supports category of your NDIS plan. To access this funding, the NDIS requires proof that you have a confirmed long-term housing solution ready for when your MTA funding ends.

MTA funding covers the cost of your accommodation, but you’ll still need to pay for personal expenses such as food, phone, internet, and utilities.

Please note: Maxicare Plus bills in line with the NDIS Price Guide, which is updated annually
